My partner and I are both watch collectors, so often keep our eyes open for great watches. We come across this little jewellers, even know this was a very small and narrow shop the variety of amazing watches on display, puts the surrounding larger pawnbrokers & jewellers to shame. After chatting to the owner about some watches, asked for the best price on a man’s Tissot automatic 1970’s watch?… he offered such a great price my partner brought the watch. Only one thing I will say that made me feel weary {this is hence why only 4/5 stars} When he removed the back of this watch so we could see the movement great apart from the fact he done that without washing all the polish and black dirt from his hands first…?! (his hands where black from jewellery he was cleaning beforehand) Would highly recommend a visit, very welcoming and friendly service.
Took my quartz watch for a simple battery change. At first he claimed it would cost £50 as my watch took a "special" battery. I know exactly which battery my watch takes and they cost about £1. I insisted he was wrong so he opened up the watch and shock horror, it was a standard battery. He charged £10 to change it. Fair enough I thought as decent places reseal the watch and test the water resistance. I checked this when he handed it back and his response was no, I didn't replace the gasket or test it. So don't get it wet. My watch is meant to be 100m water resistant. I won't be going back.
My partner recieved a 28ct gold chain from his parents whilst visiting Egypt for his 18th birthday, because of the significance we wanted this chain melted down for our wedding rings . We trusted this establishment because all my family bought from there! After the rings were "made" We was told that the hallmark had to be 24ct because the UK didn't have a 28ct hallmark, later on found out that our rings were ordered from a catalogue and were 24ct. This was in 2011 and it still eats me up that they did us wrong.
